ゲンチアナ下痢止めは湿熱を誘導し、肝胆を清熱する効能があり、肝胆湿熱による疾病の治療に用いる。
ゲンチアナ肝薬はゲンチアナ、ブプレウルム・チネンセ（Bupleurum Chinense）根茎、オウゴン（Scutellariae）根茎、クチナシ（山梔子）、ゼドアリアエ（Zedoariae）根茎、マツヨイグサ（Pinelliae）根茎、トウキ（Angelicae Sinensis）根茎、レーマンニエ（Rehmanniae Praeparata）根茎、カンゾウ（Glycyrrhizae Praeparata）根茎から構成され、肝胆湿熱によるめまいや目の充血、耳鳴りや難聴、耳の痛み、難産の痛みや口の苦味などの治療に用いられます。
In this formula, Gentian Herb can not only diarrhoea the actual fire of liver and gallbladder, but also benefit the damp-heat of liver and gallbladder; Scutellaria baicalensis and Gardenia jasminoides are bitter and cold to diarrhoea the fire, drying dampness and clearing away the heat; Ze Xie Di, Mutong, Psyllium, guiding dampness and heat to go away from the watercourses; Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae Sengdi nourish blood and nourish yin; Chaihu can dredge the qi of the liver and gallbladder and lead the medicines to return to the liver and gallbladder meridians; Glycyrrhiza glabra can reconcile all the medicines (harmonise the properties of different traditional Chinese medicines) and protect the stomach.
妊婦、高齢者、虚弱者、便が緩い人は使用に注意が必要である。 本品の副作用や禁忌は明確ではない。
